The cards noted which strain of malaria pathogen the prisoners had been infected with. These strains included Ilmensee, Moskau (“Moscow”), Moninger, Finnland (“Finland”) and Madagaskar (“Madagascar”). They were named after the place from which the pathogens came. This information could also be noted in the upper right corner or after the date on which a prisoner was reinfected. It can be identified by the abbreviation St. for Stamm (“strain”).
